Static Wave, 2017

Static Wave is a study of unfixed materials. Electricity becomes organic, shifting from the chaos of static signals to the transient substance of a wave. Both forms are instantly recognizable, but neither is constant. Initially, they might suggest a dissolution of the material world into the digital present. This is a seductively pessimistic take on today’s technological climate. My aim, however, is for Static Wave to complicate this idea, by reversing the equation. Digital dissolution becomes physical. The immaterial screen constructs a material world, alien to the natural but fully embodied.
